Somali Unity Shield

August 2026. This policy applies to the SUS SHIELD platform, including the web app, WhatsApp Business integration, and all related digital services.

SUS SHIELD collects only the information you voluntarily provide when submitting abuse reports, volunteer applications, contact messages, or using the WhatsApp integration. This may include your name, email address, phone number, WhatsApp number, and details of incidents you report. When you interact with our WhatsApp Business account, Meta may share your phone number and message content with us for the purpose of responding to your inquiry or report.

Information is used solely to process your report or application, respond to your inquiry, provide digital safety services, and improve our community protection efforts. We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal data to third parties. WhatsApp message data is used only to respond to your request and is not used for advertising.

Through the WhatsApp Business API integration, we receive your phone number and the messages you send us. We use this data to provide support, accept abuse reports, and deliver safety information. We do not share your WhatsApp data with any third party except as required by law. Meta's privacy practices are governed by the Meta Privacy Policy.

All submissions are stored securely using encrypted cloud infrastructure. Only authorized SUS team members can access case data, and only for the purpose of investigation and community protection. Access is logged and audited.

We retain personal data only as long as necessary to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected, or as required by law. Investigation case data is retained for the duration of the case and a reasonable period thereafter for record-keeping. You may request deletion of your data at any time (see Data Deletion).

You may submit abuse reports anonymously. Providing contact details is optional and helps us follow up on your case effectively.
